Before joining Century 21 Citiwide, Angel spent twelve years working in the City of Chelsea as a community organizer, advocate and activist. As an advocate, he focused on housing and economic development issues working with city, state and federal officials to increase housing and economic development opportunities for Chelsea residents and small businesses.

 In addition, Angel worked with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to identify high crime areas in order to rid the city of Chelsea of criminal activity. His efforts led the city to develop and implement plans to reconstruct dilapidated housing turning depressed areas of the city into livable neighborhoods. Angel was primarily responsible for the creation of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Resource Center which provided technical support and business related classes to aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners.

As Interim Director of a non-profit organization, the Chelsea Commission on Hispanic Affairs Inc., Angel took on the management and oversight of all agency operations, program and service development and finance management. Prior to working at the Commission, Angel operated his own restaurant and catering business, Angel’s Sub Place: El Coqui. Angel worked for the Massachusetts State Senate post office as a mail carrier.

Over the years, Angel has become an expert at successful relationship building, resource finding and business development. His many years working as a community organizer and advocate won him leadership awards and recognition from the community, the city and the state. As a member of the Chelsea Charter committee in 1990 Angel worked to ensure that all residents were represented in the city’s new government. He led multiple efforts to move policies that benefit Chelsea’s business and home owners. Angel cares about people and has invested in efforts that help ensure that all residents can fulfill the American dream.
